Album Packages for Arcade Fire and Bruce Springsteen Win Grammy Awards
Yesterday, Sunday February 12, The Recording Academy presented the 54th Grammy Awards, honouring “artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position”. Let’s take a look at the nominees and winners of categories that are of interest for our My Type of Music-loving readers.
This year the Grammy Awards cut 31 categories in a big overhaul, reducing the number of categories from 109 to 78. The most important change was the elimination of the distinction between male and female soloists and between collaborations and duo/groups in various genre fields (pop, rock, R&B, country and rap). Also, several categories for instrumental soloists were discontinued. Recordings in these categories now fall under the general categories for best solo performances. In the list of nominees and winners, the ones that interest us most on The FontFeed are of course categories 60 and 61, respectively Best Recording Package and Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package, and categories 77 and 78, for Best Short Form Music Video and Best Long Form Music Video. wow…Weird Al Yankovic, still exists, awarded??? Well, USA is a strange country indeed. And Yves – you didn’t said even a single word about Jay-Z & Kanye West – Watch The Throne cover :)
That’s because it is one of the most preposterous album covers I ever laid my eyes upon. What the hell were they thinking!? : D
